Add lookup field with data from parent site

If you need data from a Parent Site list in your subsite as lookup, Follow the steps below:

1. Create a site column. - In parent Site Go to Settings -> Site Column. Here Create a new site column and choose the type as Lookup. Get the Lookup Information from Another list and Select your Parent list and its realted Column.
2. Add site Column in your Subsite's list - Now go to your subsite list and goto list settings. Under Columns add a existing site column and select the above created custom column. And your Done.

why we need to create a look up column in the parent isite list.. we have to create it in child site not in the parent site.

Lookup for a list in parent site cannot be created in sub site... you need to add it as site column,so will have to create site column in parent site.

do you mean that in the subsite, a person should select "add from existing columns" ? or to create some type of column? I've tried both and don't see how to access the column from the parent site.

Its working :).
1.parent list on site
2.parent lookup column to the parent list on site
============
3.subsite list -add existing column (parent lookup) to list
